Unfortunately my computers had to be reimaged due to malware, my credit card was compromised and I was just starting over when I found out Carbonite had deleted my data 5 days before. ![]() CONSĬarbonite has a 30 day policy to delete all data and is not recoverable if your subscription laps. Sorry I kept with it but also shocked to see their deletion policy. Software was not as user friendly as the backup company Carbonite bought out. I found nothing positive about this software. I trust experts when it comes to my data and security, so this is not a huge issue for me. So if I were to lose my data I would need to figure out how to do it and/or pay him to help me. CONSĪs I was recommended to Carbonite by my IT guy, he is the one installed the software and also uploaded all of the docs and files when I purchase new hardware. My invoices and accounting are backed up. I have stored in my system at this moment in time 249,577 files - work from over 10 years is compiled here for my marketing clients. At any point in time, I know if my hard drive system were to be compromised, by disaster or stolen or other calamity-I could be back in business with all documents and files uploaded into a new computer hard drive system. I highly recommend Carbonite not only for business but also personal home computers. I am using Carbonite Safe CE 22.2 - I have clients that say they have a backup to Google or other service, and quite frankly they don't understand the complexity they will go through to try to retrieve their data. And at any time, I can open the software and see the files and view my backup on the Cloud. So far, thankfully, I have never needed to restore any files or data from my Carbonite Backup, but it is a nice insurance to know that if my home were to burn down, that I could still get all my photos and data back if I needed it.Since it runs in the background and I don't need to do anything with it - my experience is awesome! I love seeing the reports pop on the screen saying my system just backed up XXXXXXX number of files. If I play with it by removing and the telling it to backup again I can sometimes get the icon to change to Green. All the files nested in a folder may be green and backed up, but the parent folder still displays Amber. I also noticed that the colored circle icons showing amber or green seem to not be accurate indicators as to what is backed up or not. I was told that as long as what Carbonite showed as being backed up was larger than the amount of data on my "D" drive I shouldn't worry about it. ![]() I've done several Bomgar Remote sessions with CS, without it ever being resolved. Sometimes I just browse the web with the Desktop PC (not even using my D drive at all), and Carbonite will go into a loop of attempting to backup thousands of files. I will notice that Carbonite however will show a status that maybe 4,000 files waiting to be backed up. The number of photos that would get added to my "D" drive would be around 900 +/-, as I keep unedited, as well as two additional folders with edits. For example, I may shoot 300 photos which would be kept on my "D" drive. The few drawbacks that I've experienced with Carbonite are that there seems to be constant backing up of files. With the help of Customer Support, I was able to configure Carbonite to only backup files on my Slave Drive (Drive: "D"). I do like that Carbonite backs up my files automatically.
